The Walk

by

Jeffrey G. Grisamore

I close my eyes to seek shelter and relief
From my highest aspirations, knowing that
The soothing balm of quietness will calm my mind
But not my heart

My reluctant savior waits at the corner, eyeing me
With passion and understanding
Yet our hands cannot reach
each other

Love is eternal and everlasting
Faith is our strength and salvation
Hope is our unfulfilled promise
For tomorrow

I once took a walk on a beautiful path
The sunrise filled my soul with beauty and promise and forgiveness

While I walked
He whispered a story to me that no one else could hear
And my eyes were laid open with understanding
And my heart with love
for you
